Biography
My experience in ophthalmology and laser surgery is extensive. I earned a master’s degree from McGill University, specialized in ophthalmology at the University of Maryland-Baltimore, and completed a 2-year fellowship in cornea and refractive surgery at the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary at Harvard Medical School. I’m also a diplomat of the American Board of Ophthalmology and have done extensive research and academic writing in the ophthalmology field (see more credentials below).
But my story is about a lot more than degrees and research.I was born in Vietnam. At the age of 6 my family and I left the violence of that country for new opportunities in North America. Growing up in Montreal, I developed a strong interest in medicine. By the time I entered college, I knew vision would become my life’s work. After graduating from Harvard’s School of Medicine, I moved to the Washington, DC metro area. For the last 15 years, I’ve been the area’s leader in vision correction surgery and treatment. Despite my career achievements, my true passion is my family–my husband Hoa and my sons William, Alex, and Christopher. Their love and support has helped me become the doctor and the mother I am today.
Whenever I meet with patients, I treat them as I would want my own family to be treated—with care, support, and guidance. I’m not here to tell you what your course of treatment should be. I’m here to help guide you through the process and make the decision that works best for you.
If you think you’re ready for corrective surgery, including LASIK, or need help with other vision issues like cataracts or glaucoma, my experienced team and I are here to help. We look forward to speaking with you.
